The GAMS software family is a complete system for modeling and solvingoptimization problems. The system contains an automatic report generatoras well as the GAMS modeling language with links to solvers:

MINOS and CONOPT, widely used for large linear and nonlinear

programming problems.

ZOOM-XMP and LAMPS, for linear and mixed integer programming problems.
BDMLP, CPLEX, XA, and OB1 for linear programming problems.

The GAMS language enables modelers to use concise algebraic statements toformulate complex optimization problems, eliminating the need forcumbersome matrix and report generators. With GAMS, the modeler can usearithmetic and relational operators, indexing, functions, and exceptionhandling logic in formulating models. Moreover, the user needs to enterdata only once, in the most basic form. Data transformations arespecified algebraically, and GAMS performs the necessary calculations.Similarly, constraints need only be expressed as general algebraicformulae -- the software automatically generates each individualconstraint equation.
